Czech film-maker
Jan Svankmajer receives an International Film Fellowship at the Animation Festival in Cardiff. Several of his uniquely individual short films are featured in tonight's programme and another next Saturday. In Memories of Mysterious Beings, Svankmajer shows how he combines recollections of childhood with images drawn from his dreams to create a world in which ordinary and not-so-ordinary objects take on an extraordinary life of their own.
