Sounds of Music: 5: On the Way to the Ear

on BBC Two England

The Royal Institution, London Annual Christmas Lectures to Young People by Professor Charles Taylor.
A sound produced in the open air is different from a sound produced in a concert hall. The problem of finding an ideal location for the creation of sound, along with other sociological, psychological and economic factors provides the basis for the science of acoustics.
With the help of a magic carpet and a scale model of a concert hall, Professor Taylor discusses this musical science.
