At a murder trial, testimony by an ambitious newspaperman, added to circumstantial evidence, convicts a young man of murder. Following the execution, the reporter Michael is increasingly convinced of the man's innocence. By a bizarre set of circumstances he too finds himself in the dock. Meanwhile, a homicidal maniac is on the loose.
This rare film is dominated by extraordinary visual effects by RKO cameraman NIC MUSURACA and by the expressionist trial sequence.
