Betjeman on Kilvert
Many other ministers have followed their calling in that placid borderland where the River Wye divides Wales from England. But FRANCIS KILVERT also put on record a unique picture of rural parish life in the 1870s and his Diary reveals as much of the writer as the events he so affectionately describes. SIR JOHN BETJEMAN travels Kilvert Country and recalls a way of life which has only just slipped away.
