Four misfits -Gay, an' ageing cowboy, GUIDO a motor mechanic, Roslyn Taber , a showgirl, and Perce, a rodeo-rider - come together in the shifting, casual society of Reno. All three men have unhappy" relationships behind them and use Roslyn as a confidante. But Roslyn, in Reno to obtain a divorce, is lost and con, fused, searching for a meaning in her life:'
Marilyn Monroe , in her, last Gompleted picture, gives a deeply moving, sensitive performance in the part written for her by her ex-husband, Arthur Miller. Also appearing in his last film, the ' king ' of Hollywood, Clark Gable , gives one of the finest performances of his career.
