A selection of some of the world's great paintings
This week's theme: Gardens Bosch (c 1450-1516)
The Garden of Earthly Delights (The Prado, Madrid)
His contemporaries found it hard to believe that one mind could summon up such a proliferation of fantastic creatures. It is not difficult to see why Bosch has excited great interest in our time: his imagery seems to come straight from the subconscious, just right for the tortured century that invented psychoanalysis.
