On 6 May 1954 amateur athlete Roger Bannister made history by breaking the four-minute mile, a challenge that, up until then, had tantalisingly eluded runners from around the world. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, this documentary chronicles the events that led up to a unique sporting triumph for the young medical student on an Oxford running track, aided by his two pacemakers Chris Brasher and Chris Chataway. Featuring exclusive interviews with Chataway, Bannister himself, and his two main overseas rivals, John Landy of Australia and American Wes Santee.
