The Smith Boys

on BBC Two England

On 4 October 1883 a Sunday School teacher in Glasgow, concerned at the lack of discipline in his class, asked 28 boys to meet him at Woodside Mission Hall to talk about setting up a Boys' Association. Thus William Smith became father of the Boys' Brigade, and in turn the BB inspired all the youth movements that followed.
Andrew Keir , as Sir William Smith , looks back over the 100 years; and Allan Wells , Cliff Richard , George Thomas and others tell of their interest in the movement.
