The BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, which visits London next week, was founded in 1881 by financier Henry Lee Higginson. It has had many distinguished conductors during its 95 years, but paramount among them is Serge Koussevit zky, its Music Director from 1924 to 1949.
