The Great Palace: The Story of Parliament

on BBC Two England

The second of eight programmes looking behind the doors of Westminster and Parliament.
Narrated by Anthony Quayle Those Five Hundred Kings
The root of our Parliamentary system dates from the moment the boy King Edward VI gave his chapel of St Stephen at Westminster to the Commons for their regular meeting place in 1547. Under a permanent roof a wilful Parliament developed, whose members King James I described as ' those five hundred kings '.
This week the story continues of one of the most extraordinary buildings in the world.
