For the Schools: Birds: 4: Bird Flight

on BBC Television

View in Radio Times

by John Barlee.

The main kinds of bird flight are flapping, gliding, and soaring. Unlike most aircraft, birds are able to alter the area and shape of their wings, which allows for great manoeuvrability. There are many examples in the programme of various kinds of flight, some illustrated by special slow-motion photography.
