Champion of Champions
The first pair of skates I ever had didn't have white boots. I was terribly upset about it ... Later I learned it's the skates that matter not the boots.
Irina Rodnina , the Russian skater who at 26 has won more pair titles than any other skater in history. But her success has not come easily. At the height of her career, her first partner ULANOV left her to marry another skater. It was a blow to her personal life as well as her skating. No pair skater had ever changed partners ... but Irina achieved the impossible.
This is the story of her struggle to the top and above all, a record of the skating which has made her a champion of champions. Written and narrated by ALAN WEEKS
Adapted from a Soviet TV film by MARYSE ADDISON
