You could say the Equals were the two-tone band. Three blacks, two whites and Eddy Grant 's famous blond wig. From Goldilocks to dreadlocks, from Viva Bobby Joe to Give Me Hope Jo'Anna, Grant has come a long way. He was born in Guyana, brought up in London and now enjoys a paradise lifestyle in Barbados. Times have often been tough, but his talent and fierce independence have earned him his place in the sun as well as total artistic freedom. His musical style cannot be categorised, drawing as it does on rock, reggae and pop influences to name but a few.
