Fourteen of the nation's top chefs compete to convince the French that we can match them in gastronomic prowess. Two top chefs from each region will be competing head to head to win the chance to cook at a fantastic four-course banquet hosted by the British Ambassador to France.
Time to find out who is going to be representing the South West of England in the Great British Menu National Final. In each edition so far, the chefs have cooked a different course from their original four-course menu - now our kitchen rivals Mark Hix and Michael Caines cook their entire menus.
The exacting panel of food experts - Prue Leith, Matthew Fort and Oliver Peyton - have the task of deciding which chef will be triumphant and go on to the grand final. It’s been a friendly session so far in the kitchen but true competitive colours could start to show today. Will it be Michael’s sophistication or Mark’s simplicity that wins over the judges?
