Fourteen of the nation's top chefs compete to convince the French that we can match them in gastronomic prowess. Two top chefs from each region will be competing head to head to win the chance to cook at a fantastic four course banquet hosted by the British Ambassador to France.
In the South West of England heat, Michael Caines is defending his title against Mark Hix. Each edition the chefs are cooking a different course, culminating when they present their entire menu to the Great British Menu judges. For the fish course, Michael goes for crab and ginger dumplings with a lemon thyme and ginger sauce and Mark presents a combination of crab, scallops, lobster and seashore vegetables.
