Documentary series looking at the plight of the Nottinghamshire miners as the coal industry goes into decline.
Leaks to the press create rumours among the workforce that seem to be designed to take the fight out of the miners at Annesley/Bentinck colliery. These men have fought long and hard to keep this, the oldest pit in the country, profitable, and they are justly proud of their magnificent achievement. The union knows that only the men's resolve can keep the pit open, but with redundancy payments of up to £40,000 available it is bound to be an uphill struggle.
