Whatever its political future, Hong Kong currently enjoys a lively interest in the arts - a meeting place of East and West. Earlier this year 150 members of London's famous Bach Choir, under its conductor Sir David Wilicocks , flew there for an action-packed ten days of rehearsals, concerts and sightseeing. The programme follows their activities both in and out of the concert hall and includes excerpts from Bach's St Matthew Passion, Britten's War Requiem and Berlioz's Grande Messe des Morts. with Sheila Armstrong (soprano) Alfreda Hodgson (contralto) Kenneth Bowen (tenor) Stephen Roberts (bass) and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, leader CARL PINI and members of Hong Kong's local choirs, bands and schoolchildren, a troupe of Chinese dancers and a Chinese orchestra.
