Toys don' survive well; tin boats leak and slowly sink in the middle of the pond and toy trains get tired and the wheels fall off. The dreadnoughts and steam trains that first appeared in Edwardian toy catalogues are now rare collectors' items worth a great deal more than the few shillings that bought them as presents 70 years ago.
Soho publican Ron McCrindell has been collecting old toys for over a quarter of a century. Unlike most collectors of rare objects who keep their prize possessions behind glass, Ron Mc Crindell enjoys seeing his toys in action. This evening we invite you to share his pleasure in playing with the steam and clockwork toys that have survived from another age.
