Singles Bowls Championship Thirty-two bowlers set out today with the same ambition - to win the UK
Indoor Singles Championship. A total prize money of E34,000 is to be shared, with the champion receiving £8,000.
The title-holder is 27-year-old Welshman, STEPHEN REES and he begins his defence this afternoon against
ROD MCCUTCHEON from Ireland.
In this championship are four crown green bowlers, and TONY POOLE will be anxious to be the first of them to progress into the second round. DAVID ICKE introduces coverage of the opening matches from the Guild Hall, Preston.
