International Golf: The Best 18: Tony Jacklin (GB) v Arnold Palmer (USA)

on BBC Two England

The final six holes of this exciting match

After playing 12 of the outstanding holes on Britain's classic seaside links, Jacklin is one under Par, Palmer even par. Tonight our film cameras cover the two champions as they play the decisive last six:
The 6th at Royal Birkdale: 440 Yards, par 4. A moment for decision: can you or can't you carry the ridge with the bunker in it?
The 17th at Royal Lytham: 463 Yards, par 4. Scene of the most famous shot in golf history, where Bobby Jones won the Open - a Plaque marks the spot
The High-Hole-In at St Andrews: 170 yards, par 3. 'Hardest short hole in the world,' say some... 'Trouble once begun may not end till the card be torn into... fragments.' wrote Bernard Darwin.
The 15th at Royal Birkdale: 536 Yards, par 5. Fifteen bunkers and into the wind... not the longest in Britain, but it often plays so. The 6th at Carnoustie: 565 yards, par 5. ' A hole to dream about,' wrote Patric Dickinson, 'an epic in itself' ... one of Britain's longest championship holes...
...and the shortest of them all: The 'Postage Stamp' at Troon: 125 yards, par 3... but one man took 15 in an Open!
