Britain's biggest firm, with more than 400,000 on the payroll; Britain's biggest spender, investing two million pounds every day-the Post Offiee, now a nationalised industry. Judged by size alone, it would hog the superlatives. But is the organisation simply too big? Has the Post Office grown into an uneconomic, unwieldy giant - or have we still the cheapest, most efficient postal and telephone services in the world?
