Sherlock Holmes in Washington

on BBC Two England

continues a season of classic films starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes, Nigel Bruce as Dr Watson

The serious task of combating Hitler and his dastardly secret agents was too important a matter to be left to amateurs. So, with a little cinematic licence, Universal called in 'the invincible and ageless' Sherlock Holmes, whose track record in Victorian England was well proven.
Here Holmes and Dr Watson go to Washington to save a top secret document from falling into enemy hands and so do their bit for the war effort.
