Laughton is in flamboyant mood as John Sheridan, noted footlight star, who is duped into helping an aspiring actress into a Broadway production. Deanna Durbin stars as the stage-struck waitress who eventually wins Sheridan's heart, and Franchot Tone is once again on hand as the romantically-inclined playwright.
