Islands of the Grey Wind
In Orkney, they say, only the climate is rough: the landscape is gentle, the islands ' like sleeping whales'.
Today, three naturalists, Orcadian Sheila Spence , and incomers David Lea and John Crothers , bring us some of the sights and sounds of Orkney in winter-wide moor-lands and peaceful lochs, soft-eyed seal pups waiting to be fed and the wild melancholy cry of whooper swans.
