World Snooker

on BBC Two England

The cameras return to the Crucible for the first session of Ken Doherty's first-round match against Nick Dyson.

Doherty, ranked seventh in the world, assured himself of a place in snooker's history books by becoming the first player from the Republic of Ireland to win the world championship in 1997. Nick Dyson is returning to the Crucible after a ten-year absence following a first-round defeat in 1991 by Jimmy White. This season Dyson has shown excellent form, coming through five rounds of qualifiers and also winning five matches at the UK championships in November and compiling a 147 break during his second-round match. He will face a stern test, however, against an in-form Doherty.
