Nirad Chaudhuri: Adventures of a Brown Man - In Search of Civilisation

on BBC Two England

Though he has always been a writer, Nirad Chaudhuri's first book was not published until he was over 50. Since then his highly personal views on both India and Great Britain have won him literary awards and an international reputation. Now in his 70s, Chaudhuri is regarded by his fellow countrymen as something between a prophet and a court jester.
This portrait was filmed in London and Oxford during a recent visit from his home in Delhi.
