Big Science

on BBC Two England

Evolutionary psychology is a new science that argues in favour of a universal human nature, that there are common human tendencies which could explain why men are sexually attracted to certain types of women, why people become violent or why they are ambitious. Presenter David Malone explores how this, and other areas of scientific endeavour, are open to exploitation by others with political rather than scientific motives at heart.
He also looks at waste disposal on a grand scale: why we are so bad at getting rid of large junk, such as spent nuclear reactors, obsolete oil rigs, unwanted concrete buildings and chemical plants that are past their sell-by dates. What will happen to them when they are no longer useful? (Stereo) (Subtitled)
