Central to Cuba's revolution has been the priority it has given to sport and sports education. Ron Pickering, a former Olympic coach, was curious as to how a small island, with a population no larger than that of London, could produce Olympic champions of the calibre of Alberto Juantorena and Teofilo Stevenson.
