Crime-fiction writer Jeff Troy and his lovely wife Nancy move into the basement apartment of a Greenwich Village brownstone - the perfect atmosphere to gather material for Jeff's new book. The discovery of a corpse in the garden and the strange behaviour of the house's other occupants quickly turns their planned domestic bliss into a hair-raising escapade.
