The Man who Invented the 20th Century

on BBC Two England

Robert Symes discovers the genius of Sir Charles Algernon Parsons , who filed patents for the steam turbine on St George's Day 1884.
At Newcastle Parsons not only designed giant turbines for the great liners and power stations of the world; he poured out a stream of inventions, and laid the foundations for the gas turbine.
