The outstanding beauty of the Scottish landscape inspired a long tradition of fine painting. William McTaggart was born near Campbeltown in 1835. He discovered his own kind of Impressionism on the beaches of Kintyre.
In the 20th century his grandson Sir William MacTaggart used his own even freer interpretation of light and colour to express the dramatic moods of sea, cornfield and sky. Narrator
