Joyce Sikakane was born In Soweto. She was the first African woman to work on a South African newspaper and because of her criticism of the Government's apartheid policies she was put into solitary confinement. After 18 months she was called for trial - The Trial of the 22 - and acquitted. She decided to leave South Africa and now lives in Dundee with her Scottish husband.
