Siberian cranes dancing, sunbirds sipping nectar, weaverbirds weaving, Asian lions lounging: all these and more are the India of Salim Ali.
In his 87 years he's travelled the length and breadth of the sub-continent, from the peaks of the Himalayas to the sands of Cape Comorin, from the Great Rann of Kutch to the marshes of Bharatpur. Revered as the grand old man of ornithology and conservation, he's done more than anyone living to save the country's wild places and inspire the new generation of Indian naturalists.
