Series examining military, ideological and political postwar conflicts between the United States and the Soviet Union. Korea 1949-54. Rocked by Mao Tse-tung's proclamation of the People's Republic of China, the United States considers a massive arms build-up. But in June 1950, as a revised defence policy is debated by Congress, North Korea invades South Korea.
Allied troops support the South and Mao orders Chinese troops into the North. By the spring of 1951, the two armies have fought to a stalemate which lasts for two years until an armistice is finally agreed.
