Father and daughter O'Neal make an engaging comedy duo and nine-year-old Tatum won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Awful Child in this re-creation of the American Mid-West of the 1930s. Con man Moses Pray takes on more than he bargained for when he offers to deliver an orphan to her aunt in Missouri, as the child soon shows that she can beat him at his own game. Their drive through Kansas is punctuated by a series of hilarious near-disasters.
