1974 All Blacks Tour Wales XV v
New Zealand
Not since 1953 has Wales managed to beat the All Blacks. Todays match will be recorded as ' 'unofficial,' but to the Welsh team, containing some of the illustrious British Lions, it will be an uncompromising attempt to win.
NIGEL STARMER-SMITH recalls action from 40 years of fierce encounters between these two sides in the company of former Welsh captains CLAUDE DAVEY (1935), BLEDDYN WILLIAMS (1953), CLIVE ROWLANDS (1963), NORMAN GALE (1967) and DELME THOMAS (1972). BILL MCLAREN describes the whole of today's match in Cardiff.
