For ten months film crews in Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Liberia and Kurdistan followed the French emergency organisation, Medecins sans Frontieres, the world's largest medical charity. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, MSF was founded by doctors who had taken part in the Paris student riots of the late 60s and kept their idealism. It is famous for putting its people into the world's most dangerous places - behind battle lines, at the heart of famines - where they help anyone who is sick or injured, taking no sides.
"Conditions are hard but one doesn't complain; then suddenly we are attacked, killed, raped - that is not part of the plan."
Narrated by Daniel Day-Lewis .
