Saturday Cinema: Tumbleweed

on BBC Two England

starring Audie Murphy, Chill Wills.

Jim Harvey, a young scout, is wrongly accused of cowardice and desertion when a wagon-train he is guiding is attacked by savage Indians. With the aid of his horse Tumbleweed, a deceptively decrepit animal, Harvey sets out to prove his innocence of complicity in the massacre.
Audie Murphy established himself early in his career as a popular Western hero. It was he who was chosen to re-create the name part when the earlier James Stewart-Marlene Dietrich movie, "Destry Rides Again", was remade.
