The Jupiter Collision

on BBC Two England

The Crash Bash
Last weekend the world of astronomy witnessed what had been predicted as the biggest explosion in the solar system since Man first looked to the skies. The Shoemaker-Levy comet was expected to collide with the planet Jupiter.
In tonight's film the comet's discoverers, Carolyn and Gene Shoemaker and David Levy , are seen assessing the effects of last weekend's cosmic collision from the control room of the Hubble telescope. What are scientists expecting to learn from this phenomenon? Director/Producer Taghi Amirani
