Reporter Bernard Falk follows ALF goodall down the pit on his last day to share the camaraderie which he will miss most; crosses to New York with leo BUDD flying the machine which is his obsession; and toasts JOHN CHINNECK when the great day finally arrives. He talks to Lord Soper who is still going strong at nearly 80; and Kathleen Gibberd , 84, who, thinks the old should be respected by society for their wisdom.
