(Los Olvidados) starring
Alfonso Mejia , Roberto Cobo
Luis Bunuel was one of the great masters of the cinema. A major season of his films begins with this tough and uncompromising picture of juvenile crime in Mexico City. A prize winner at Cannes in 1951, the film is in stark contrast with the surreal comedies of the director's later years. Jaibo, a ruthless young thug determined to prove his proficiency in every branch of crime, beats to death a friend he thinks has betrayed him. The murder is witnessed by Pedro who has not yet joined the delinquents' gang and whose fight to lead a better life has tragic results.
