starring
Made in Britain, this bitter film was
Chaplin's answer to his political accusers.
Chaplin plays King Shahdov, who flees from a revolution in his own country to New York but soon finds himself a victim of commercial exploitation -and of the infamous Un-American
Activities Committee. In typical Chaplin fashion, this attack on American life is leavened with some brilliant comedy sequences.
Screenplay, music, production and direction by CHARLES CHAPLIN.
