Rostropovich - Three Friends

on BBC Two England

Cellist and conductor
Mstislav Rostropovich talks for the first time about his close personal friendships with three of the 20th century's greatest composers: SERGEI PROKOFIEV. DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH and BENJAMIN BRITTEN.
There is rare archive film of the major works written by all three composers for the great cellist. Rostropovich is also seen in his role as conductor, working with the LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA on Shostakovich's powerful Symphony No 5.
