2.15pm on BBC1.
From the auction of Margaret Mitchell 's blockbusting novel to Gone with the Wind's glittering Hollywood premiere, this star-studded documentary reveals the drama and spectacle of the film's making, and the behind-the-scenes wrangles which almost matched the epic battles on screen. It includes rare footage of the screen tests made in the search for the actress to play Scarlett O'Hara , and interviews with the film's producer David O. Selznick, its stars - including Vivien Leigh , Olivia de Havilland and Butterfly McQueen - and the directors involved in its making, including
George Cukor.
