Tortured to reveal the name of her lover, the young daughter of General El Jefe gives the name of Alfredo Garcia. The wealthy land-owner offers a million dollars in exchange for Garcia's head. The ensuing search takes four of his henchmen and a down-and-out pianist, Bennie, into the depths of Mexico, where their greed and animosity lead to murder and a savage confrontation. Director Sam Peckinpah has created a characteristic world of treacherous relationships and a study in obsession bordering on insanity.
