International Golf: The 1969 U.S. Masters Golf Tournament

on BBC Two England

Defending Champion: Bob Goalby
The highlights of the Final Round introduced by Harry Carpenter

A year ago the universally popular Roberto de Vicenzo of the Argentine dismayed golf enthusiasts throughout the world by signing an incorrectly marked score-card and so forfeited his right to tie for the first place in the 1968 Masters. No rules decision can ever have been harder to enforce, because no tournament commands more respect and no title is more eagerly sought after.

This year's tournament, played as usual over the famed Augusta National Course, was completed yesterday and drew an entry of the world's finest golfers which featured the largest British contingent ever, including Tony Jacklin, Brian Huggett, Peter Butler, Malcolm Gregson, Peter Townsend, Tommy Horton, Michael Bonallack, and Joe Carr.
