The first of four monologues based on eyewitness accounts of the ordinary men and women who made the French Revolution.
The Patriot by PETER BARNES with
Patriot Palloy was the Revolution's greatest entrepreneur. Two days after the fall of the Bastille he secured the contract for its demolition. He sold every inch of the prison. Its stones were fashioned into miniature souvenirs; the drawbridge chains were melted down to form commermorative medals. For Palloy, the Revolution meant liberty - the liberty to make himself a fortune.
