Michael Strogoff

Based on the novel by juLEs VERNE The Courier of the Tsar is the secondary title of this seven-episode serial based on the famous adventure story.
Michael Strogoff is a young and gallant captain in the Imperial Guard who is chosen by Tsar Alexander II to carry out a long and arduous mission travelling 5,000 km through hostile territory during the Tartar rebellion of 1875. Strogoff has to make contact with the Archduke Dimitri , the brother of the Tsar, who is travelling in Siberia, and to give him information aimed at saving Siberia from the rebels.
In the first episode, as Michael Strogoff sets out on his journey, a former Colonel in the Imperial Guard, Ivan Ogareff , who is half-Tartar by birth, escapes from prison to join the Tartars and lead them in a war of independence.
