Saturday Cinema: Cattle Queen of Montana

on BBC Two England

Starring Barbara Stanwyck, Ronald Reagan

In the rugged Montana Territory of the 1880s, a woman vows vengeance for her father's murder.
Barbara Stanwyck, like those two other imperishables Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, has remained at the very top of the Hollywood tree for well over thirty years. She made her first film, The Locked Door, in 1929, and it was followed by a long string of successes including The Lady Eve, Double Indemnity, and Sorry, Wrong Number - all seen on BBC-tv. In tonight's film she plays a typical Stanwyck heroine - beautiful, tough, independent.
