This award-winning film, written by poet Tony Harrison , combines drama, documentary, verse and music to pay a poignant tribute to people with Alzheimer's disease, a condition that affects 600,000 in Britain. Based at High Royds Hospital in Menston,
Yorkshire, it unravels the lives of the residents, who, along with theirfamilies and nursing staff, play themselves.
Residents' lost memories are revived in a moving mix of verse and song, with three actresses recreating the wedding days of patients. The film's specially arranged score was written by Dominic Muldowney and the pieces range from Daisy, Daisy Give Me Your Answer Do! to a Puccini aria from Madama Butterfly.
